Tomorrow is International Beer and Pizza Day, and we've spent this week mapping the best local pies and pints across Amador County, Stockton and Lodi, and Galt and Elk Grove. Here's the whole tour in one place, plus a few ways to make Friday worth celebrating.
The Tour
Amador County. Gold Country flavor with Paisano's, Gold Dust Pizza, and Moonrise for the pies, and Amador Brewing Company for the pours. Full guide here.
Stockton and Lodi. David's Pizza, Guantonio's, and Valley Brew for the classics, plus Idol Beer Works for something newer. Full guide here.
Galt and Elk Grove. Stratton's and Pizza Guys in Galt; Fat Mike's and New York Pizza in Elk Grove. Then River Rock Brewery and Back Alley Brewhouse in Galt, and Flatland Brewing and Dust Bowl's Old Town Tap House in Elk Grove. Full guide here.
Ways to Celebrate
The classic. Pick your town, order the pie, pour the pint, done.
The two-town crawl. Pizza in one town, beer in the next. Galt to Elk Grove is a short drive, and so is Lodi to Stockton.
The at-home tasting. Order pies from two different spots and compare. Add local cans and bottles from River Rock, Flatland, or Dust Bowl and you've got a flight without leaving the couch.
The family night. Back Alley Brewhouse is family- and dog-friendly, and River Rock has games and coloring for the kids. Bring the whole crew.
The early start. Stratton's opens at 10 a.m. Nothing wrong with pizza for lunch.
Whichever town you choose, every dollar stays local, and that's the kind of Friday we like around here.
And if a town that pairs family-recipe pies with a cold local pint sounds like home to you, I'd love to help you find your spot here.
